This is the Regional Heat of the National Lifesaving Championships 2015.
The top 4 people within each category at each Branch Heat progress to the Regional Heat. Those who come top in each category at the Regional Heat will progress to the National Finals.
The Competition
The competition will take place on Saturday 12th September at the University of Bristol Swimming Pool (details can be found below).
Please note, there is no dedicated parking at the swimming pool – parking is provided in the surrounding streets. Please allow extra time to find a parking space, as space can be limited, and observe all parking restrictions (the organisers cannot be held responsible for any parking fines, etc.) – you may need to park and walk a short distance to the pool; also consider public transport to reach the pool.
The RLSS UK College of Referees has assigned Stephanie Andrews to the role of Referee for the Regional Heat. She will ensure that the competition is run in accordance with the National Lifesaving Championships Rules 2015, which can be downloaded here.
Registration for the competition will run between 3.15 and 3.45pm – all competitors, officials and helpers need to register between these times. Competitors are expected to be ready for isolation by 4pm. We aim to start the competition within the swimming pool as quickly as possible after 4.30pm. We aim to finish the competition and presentations around 8pm – please allow some flexibility with timing, as it is subject to delays on the day.
Once isolated, competitors will complete the competition events in the following order:
1. Wet Initiative;
2. Dry Initiative;
3. Line Throw;
4. Swim and Tow.
Once the dry initiative has been completed, competitors will be able to join family and friends in the viewing area. Please ensure competitors have suitable clothing and footwear, a drink and any food as needed before isolation closes. The swimming pool has lockers for all additional items not needed in isolation.
