SUMMARY:National Lifesaving Championships (NLSC) - Final 2017
DESCRIPTION:The Finals of the National Lifesaving Championships (NLSC) takes place at a new venue\, John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds on 26th November 2017. \nThose who qualify from the Regional Heats around the UK will compete to achieve first place in their category. Competitors will undertake four events: a dry initiative\, a wet initiative\, a line throw and a swim and tow race. \nFurther details will be published online at the RLSS UK website.

SUMMARY:West Region Championships 2017
DESCRIPTION:Copyright: Sedgemoor District Council \nThis is the Regional Heat of the National Lifesaving Championships 2017. \nThis year entering the National Lifesaving Championships has changed. Everyone will enter the Championships directly with RLSS UK\, rather than through your local Branch. Every participant will pay a fixed fee of £15\, with a small proportion of the fee being given to the West Region to help fund the Regional Championships. \nAdditionally\, all participants will enter the Regional Championships automatically – there is no longer a qualifying Branch Heat. However some branches may run a Branch Heat for competitors to practice. \nAll entries to the National Lifesaving Championships need to be made by the 1st June 2017. Sign up online at: RLSS UK NLSC 2017 Entries \nThe Competition\nThe competition will take place on Saturday 23rd September at Trinity Sports and Leisure\, Bridgwater (details can be found below). \nThe RLSS UK College of Referees has yet to assign the Referee for the Regional Heat. They will ensure that the competition is run in accordance with the National Lifesaving Championships Rules 2017\, which can be downloaded here. \nThe timings of the Regional Championships will be released once finalised. \nOnce isolated\, competitors will complete the competition events in the following order: \n1. Dry Initiative;\n2. Wet Initiative;\n3. Line Throw;\n4. Swim and Tow. \nOnce the wet initiative has been completed\, competitors will be able to join family and friends in the viewing area. Please ensure competitors have suitable clothing and footwear\, a drink and any food as needed before isolation closes. The swimming pool has lockers for all additional items not needed in isolation. \nAll competitors will be contacted directly to inform them of the arrangements. DESCRIPTION:The Royal Life Saving Society – Commonwealth Drowning Prevention is delighted to announce the all new Commonwealth Festival Of Lifesaving to take place in South Africa in 2017. \nThe Festival runs from 9th to 13th August 2017 at the King’s Park Swimming Complex\, Durban\, KwaZulu Natal\, South Africa. \nThe new-look festival aims to encourage participation and lifesaving development\, and to bring the lifesaving family together. SUMMARY:Rescue Medley Training with Rebecca Coales
DESCRIPTION:Rebecca Coales is a record-breaking Bristolian freediver – have a look at her website at www.omdiver.co.uk. She can swim 145m underwater without fins (that’s nearly 6 lengths of the University of Bristol pool)! Or 186m on a single breath wearing a mono-fin (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeV35fum4rw for footage of Rebecca in action). \nRebecca will be visiting Bristol University on 30 January to run some Rescue Medley training. The training will start at 9am sharp with a theory session\, then we’ll hop into the pool to put some of the theory into practice.
