Lifesaving Instructors Course

The Lifesaving Instructors course is designed for those who want to teach the Survive and Save awards. Only qualified Lifesaving Instructors can teach and assess the Survive and Save awards. So if you’d like to become a Lifesaving Instructor then this is the course for you!

Format: The course runs over two days (25th and 26th July 2015) from 9:00am-5pm each day. The course is a mixture of interactive classroom sessions and practical pool-based sessions.

Pre-requisites:

1. Aged 17 years or above (Lifesaving Instructors aged 17 years must have an Instructor aged 18+ years in the teaching venue when they are teaching).
2. Hold or have held a Heritage Bronze Medallion or higher, or a Silver Level Survive and Save award or higher. Candidates without one of these awards should inform the Course Tutor before applying.
3. Hold a current Life Support 3 (or NRASTC with infant Life Support, NPLQ, or NBLQ). A free Life Support 3 assessment can be completed as part of this course for candidates who do not hold the award – please inform the Course Tutor for further details.
4. Hold current RLSS UK membership. 6 months free membership will be given to any non-members attending this course. It is the Instructors responsibility to maintain this membership.

What to Bring: Course materials will be provided, but attendees will need to bring pens, a notepad, packed lunch and swimming kit on both days.

Cost: The course is heavily subsidised by the Avon & North Wiltshire and Somerset Branches of RLSS UK so participants pay just £60 for the course materials. For those candidates attending from a Somerset Branch registered Lifesaving Club, a further subsidy may be available – contact somerset@rlsswest.org.uk for more details.
